Common Foot Issues

Given what all our feet can experience, it is easy for them to develop any number of issues over time. 

Sore Feet

Sore feet are most often caused by being on them for long periods of time. This can be made worse by carrying heavy loads and/or standing on concrete surfaces.

If you have to stand for extended periods of time for work, be sure to use the most comfortable shoes possible. Use inserts for additional comfort and support. Alternating your weight between left and right feet, rather than leaving all of the weight on both, helps to prevent overuse.

Ingrown Toenails

Ingrown toenails usually happen if toenails are neglected, toenails are cut incorrectly, and/or shoes are too tight in the toes.

If this happens, be sure to wear loose shoes that can allow the nail to grow. Severe cases might lead to an infection. If this occurs, or if the nail continues to grow inward, it is time to see the foot doctor.

Hammertoe

Hammertoe usually forms when trauma to the foot, improperly-fitting shoes, or genetics cause the middle joint to bend. This can cause pain, redness, swelling, or even a corn to grow. These can be flexible or rigid, each requiring a different form of attention to treat.
