Are You Dealing with Heel Pain?

Are You Dealing with Heel Pain?

Don’t let heel pain tell you what you can and can’t do with your days.heel pain

Whether you are an avid athlete or someone who just got a Fitbit® to start tracking their daily steps, anyone can face foot problems along the way. If you have started to notice that heel pain has taken over, this can really put a damper on your day’s plans. Our Ridgefield, CT, podiatrist, Dr. Allan Rosenthal, is here to tell you ways to quell that pain and when you should seek proper medical care.

Take a Break

The last thing you need to be doing is running or performing any activities that will only make heel pain worse. Stay away from high-impact activities until your pain has completely gone away. In the meantime, opt for swimming, the stationery bike or other low-impact activities if you want to stick with your workout plan.

Stretch it Out

Our Ridgefield foot doctor is happy to show you some stretching exercises you can do every day to help ease inflamed ligaments and tissues while also strengthening the muscles around the foot to provide better support. The best part is that you can perform these exercises daily from wherever you are.

Wear the Proper Footwear

While your foot heals it’s important that it’s getting the support and cushioning it needs. This means wearing shoes and not going around barefoot. Feet that are already injured will not be able to absorb shock as well. Make sure that the shoes you do wear don’t have heels, won’t bunch up your toes and will provide a lot of stability and support.

If pain hasn’t gone away in two weeks, if pain has gotten worse or if you can’t put weight on the foot then it’s certainly time you called the foot specialists at Advanced Foot Care Center in Ridgefield, CT. Our goal is to get you back on your feet.
